This sweet chunky little baby boy was a dream in my Carthage, Missouri studio when he was only five days old!  He was ready to snooze when he arrived with his mom and grandma.  His grandma did a wonderful job of keeping him awake before his session and that made a huge difference in all the newborn photography poses I was able to do.

Since this newborn boy was born right before Christmas, I took that cue to make sure I had the outfit and props to give a nod to the season.  The red, black and white sleepy cap is just a touch of the season but not so much that these cannot be timeless heirloom portraits.  (I do provide props and clothing so that mom doesn’t have to worry about bringing anything to the newborn session.) His cheeks though were out of this world!

At the beginning of the session, I like to have momma hold her sweet baby and get some cherished portraits with both mom and baby!  A moment like this will be something that a mom holds in her heart forever and I love getting the opportunity to capture these sweet snuggles!

One thing I love the most about my newborn sessions is the comfort of my studio.  After getting the sweet pictures with mom, mom can take a break and maybe even sneak in a nap on my comfy couch!  While momma was resting, this little man’s grandma stepped in and helped me with this froggie pose!  This newborn portrait has become a family favorite.  The family decided to print this big on a metal and let me tell you, it is just stunning!

After we do several different poses on my newborn posing bag, I love to wrap them up in swaddling wraps and layer in many different textures.  The layered look gives a  wonderful look to the newborn picture plus the baby gets to be all all snuggled up in the big bowl.  My mom has blessed me with crocheting several new bump blankets that gives lots of opportunity to change up colors and get that perfect look.

This sweet baby’s Mom brought in this crocheted Santa hat and cocoon.  She crocheted it herself which gives this image a sentimental touch and worked great with my fluff blanket that I think looked just like snow!

I love to swaddle baby up in my wraps and put them in buckets or boxes.  Toward the end of the session, when baby might be trying to wake up, this allows for a few more shots!

This is just 1/3 of the images that a family gets to choose from!

xoxo,

Celesta
